I think that about sums up the past few days at our house.
Oh, I do have to say that on Sunday morning, I went to First Baptist Church in Springdale, with Tanner. (FBC is a huge MEGAchurch here in town, for those of you who aren't from this area) Steve wanted to get an early start on the bathroom so he stayed home and went to Lowe's. Though there are a TON of great things at FBC, there are also a lot of people out there who have not so nice opinions about FBC. In the almost twelve years that I've lived here, I've never once gone to a church service there-been to several programs that Tanner's been in there, but never attended a Sunday morning service.
They are working through a three part drama called Tell Me The Story Again. The three parts are spread out over the three Sundays preceding Easter.
Mike, Jill and Rachel are all in the drama so Tanner wanted to go watch them. I was a little unsure, but decided what the heck. It's her "other church" and I thought it'd be neat to see her in her element like that.
I can honestly say that I was NOT prepared for the reaction that I had to the service.
The worship-OUTSTANDING. INCREDIBLE. AMAZING. Don't know if it was the full band and orchestra, along with a six member Praise Team and choir or if it was song selection or if it was hearing the music minister's awesome voice....but I was moved to tears twice during the worship time alone. And looking through the corner of my eye and seeing my child so in tune with the worship was very moving as well.
The drama-OUTSTANDING. INCREDIBLE. AMAZING. Very moving. That's all I can really say about it. Very moving.
The sermon-you know, I'll be honest and say that I went in to the sermon thinking "oh joy, I get to listen to "The Pope" (what the minister is often referred to)...." (enter sarcasm there) I really enjoyed the sermon though and even took notes! I thought the invitation time was neat, as was the way they ended the service.
Let me say this-we aren't at all unhappy with New Springs or anything like that. I've not been to NS for two weeks and I miss it! I felt though that I needed to go to FBC with Tanner on Sunday. I can't tell you why, just felt that's where I needed to be. And since the service times overlap, I couldn't go to both services at once. :)
I walked out of there with a smile not only on my face but also in my heart. I felt like it was just what I needed to start off the week. I felt so blessed and truly felt as if Jesus had touched my heart. This next Sunday I plan on going again for the worship and drama time, then slipping out to head to NS for service there. I have a feeling it'll be another amazing Sunday!
