Feeling Like A Failure

I feel like a failure.

Steve picked Tanner up from school today and then stayed home with her after work. Since he was home, he went ahead and started fixing dinner (you know, for the fourth or fifth night in a row). I had planned on having tacos and had laid out hamburger meat this morning. Well, I come home, Steve has the hamburger fried and looks at me, asking where I kept the taco spice. I told him where to look and he said he looked and there was none. CRAP! Thinking he just didn't look, I looked. Low and behold, there was no taco seasoning. UGH! I looked in my regular spice cabinet and didn't even have any freaking chili spice that we could substitute. UGH! I offered to run to WalMart but Steve said he'd just make due. He wondered about any sloppy joe spice-of course I didn't have that either. So he put BBQ sauce on it, slapped it on some bread and called it sandwiches.

I'm glad he improvised but I still feel like a failure. I feel like if someone is going to be nice enough to cook dinner, then I should have all the ingredients on hand. I know I'm human and I know that I'm not perfect. But still. It just irritates the fire out of me when something stupid like that happens. UGH!

Other than that, and dealing with the MIL (that's a whole other story that I don't want to get into), the day went well. Tanner brought home her grade card today and she has 4 A's and 3 B's. I couldn't be more proud. She's done so well in school this year. She's done far better than I ever thought she would. Praise God.

Around 3:45 today, Tanner called me from her cell phone and asked who was supposed to pick her and Karley up today. My heart froze not only because it was 3:45 and she hadn't been picked up yet, but also because knowing Steve's track record, I figured he must have been involved in an accident or something on the way to get the girls. My immediate response was "Stevie's not picked you up yet?!" It was then that I hear her and Steve giggling and her saying "April Fools!" Yea, aren't they funny!

It seems like there was something else I was going to blog about, but I don't remember what it was. Oh well. I'll think of it later.

AHHH! You are not a failure! You are a crazy working mother and wife, who's insanely busy taking care of other people too, who ran out of something! Happens all the time here too! I'm forever and always being creative with my dinners! Wish I had someone to cook for me, but he's never home before me, lol! :) Hang in there sweetie. Yay to Tanner for the joke, that's a good one and for her grade card! That's great! :)
