Going away lunch

This coming Friday (the 27th) will be Steve's last day at DEA.  He is being "reassigned" to the Evidence/Property room while on "light duty" or in other words, until he retires.  Not sure what'll happen after that.  But anyways............yesterday the guys at DEA threw him a "going away lunch."  It was so fun and I know Steve really enjoyed himself.  There were 45 people there!  I've never seen so many people at a going away lunch!  Steve was humbled, to say the least.

One of the guys at the office brought his smoker to the DEA office and smoked the meat there.  We had smoked chicken, ribs, brisket and sausage.  It was de-lish!

Perhaps the best suprise of the day-I had arranged for one of Steve's best friends, Jeff Tate, to come to the party.  Jeff was the Intel Analyst for DEA when Steve first started there.  Jeff and his wife went to New Springs, which is where I went to church at the time.  Jeff and Steve became great friends and Jeff's wife, Diana is one fo my best friends in the world.  Jeff is in the National Guard and left DEA to go to Physicians Assistant School and is now a PA down in Mayflower, Arkansas.  Mayflower is between Conway and Little Rock, about three hours south of here.  I was able to keep it a secret that Jeff was coming so Steve was truly surprised when he saw him.  It was great.

Here are the few pictures I took.  They aren't anything fabulous.  I was too busy eating to take any pictures!  Next Friday the big boss from Little Rock along with the big boss from the Federal Prosecutors Office are both coming up to take us out to lunch and to provide Steve with his plaques.  I'll take more pictures then.  :)
