Birthday Weekend

This year my birthday was on a Sunday and truly, I think it was one of the best birthdays ever.  I think we celebrated all weekend!

Saturday morning started out with breakfast in bed.  Tanner made me pancakes with fresh strawberries.  She did a GREAT job and they were to die for.  She did everything herself and she did a great job.  It was the first time ever that I've had breakfast in bed-and let me just say-I could get used to that! :)

While she was making the pancakes, she was also making me a funfetti birthday cake.  She decorated it with pink funfetti frosting and then took some red and blue frosting and wrote "Happy Birthday Mom" on it.
Mom and Dad got here around 11:00.  Though we saw them in Branson the first of April, it seemed as if it had been forever!  It was so good to see them and hang out with them.

While Steve smoked a brisket for dinner, Mom, Dad, Tanner and I went shopping.  My Dad had made the comment that he wanted to "get out and about" so that we did! Our first stop-Chick-Fil-A!!  Woohoo!!  Mom had seen a sign for Chick-Fil-A on the way down and told Dad she wanted to eat there if it were close.  Close it is!! After we left, we went to Target, to Kohl's and to Walmart.  Dad helped Tanner go birthday shopping for me, which brought back memories of when Dad and I would go shopping for Mom.  I loved spending the time shopping with Mom.  We rarely get to do things, just the two of us, so it was nice to have a little bit of time together.

Saturday night we had my birthday dinner-smoked brisket, Asian cole slaw, baked potatoes and baked beans.  Boy oh boy it was delish! While eating dinner, Steve gave me an early birthday gift-the movie "The Blind Side"!!  Us, nor Mom and Dad had seen it but had all wanted to.  Man, that ranks as one of my all time favorite movies.  I think I loved it more because it's a true story.  Love, love, love that movie!

Sunday we took Mom and Dad to our new church.  I wasn't sure how they'd like it because it's huge compared to our church back home.  But they said they really enjoyed it too!  It was a good sermon and once again, an awesome time of worship.

After dinner we went out to lunch at La Huerta, then came home to open presents and have cake and ice cream.  From Steve, I got The Bind Side, the new Mercy Me CD and a bracelet from Brighton gifts.  It's beautiful and he did such a great job of picking out meaningful charms.  I love it!  From Tanner, I got a cool pair of silver earings and a nice notebook thing for my purse.  She did a great job as well.

Mom and Dad left after cake and ice cream and I went in and took a nap.  A three and a half hour nap!  I was tired! Being the birthday girl is hard stuff!!

Monday afternoon when I got to work, the girls in my office had decorated my desk with streamers, balloons and signs.  They had cake, ice cream and punch to celebrate with.  I was totally shocked and am so very thankful that they remembered and we celebrated together.

I was a little nervous of turning 36.  I know compared to some people, that's not old at all, but to me-it feels old.  That being said though, I totally loved celebrating the weekend with everyone.  And heck, if that's what every birthday from here on out means, then I say bring it on!!

Happy Birthday to Me!!
