Since Steve is working so much lately, it was just Tanner and I this weekend. Though we missed having him home, we had the best weekend together.
Friday night, we came home from work/school and immediately took our baths and got comfortable. We had a quick dinner and then climbed in our bed and watched an episode of "Glee" that we had taped on Wednesday. It was such a nice, relaxing time and a great way to unwind after a long week.
Saturday, we planned on doing all of our errands for the weekend. The weather was going to be great so we were going to get out and enjoy it! I got up early with Steve (he had to be back to work at 8:00 a.m) which meant so did Tanner. We got him off to work and Tanner asked what was for breakfast. I asked what she wanted and she said "Can we go get donuts and I buy?" How could I pass that up!?
We threw some clothes on (literally-I put on a sweatshirt over my pj's and Tanner put her robe on) and ran up to the donut shop. Thank goodness for drive thru donut shops, that's all I gotta say! Before we left, I asked Tanner if she was really going to wear her robe, to which she looked at me very seriously and said "Well yes, I'm a diva!" :)
We left here around 10:00 and got started on our errands. We were gone ALL day long-literally. We had so much fun though. We came home in the late afternoon just long enough to unpack groceries, then we got back in the car and left again. I had told Tanner that she could pick where we went to dinner and she picked Noodles. Yummy!! We had a great dinner and were able to get Steve some dinner and were able to take it to him.
Saturday night was a repeat of Friday night. We took our baths, climbed in our bed and watched a few more shows that we had taped over the past couple of weeks. Again, it was so nice and relaxing.
Until..............................
It was probably 9:30 or so and I kept hearing a vehicle playing very loud bass music. Loud enough that it was literally rattling our windows. I thought it was someone going up and down the street behind us, but when I looked out, I didn't see anyone. I went and looked out Tanner's window (which faces our street) and there parked outside our house was a strange looking SUV with two people in it. One person got out and started walking towards my truck. I immediately went to find the phone and called dispatch.
By the time an officer got here the SUV and the man had left.
If Steve had been here-it wouldn't have been a big deal. If he had a "regular" or "normal" job, it wouldn't have been a big deal. Knowing what he does though and knowing what he's currently working on-it freaked me out. I called one of my co-workers husbands who works evening shift and had him drive by the house a few more times over the course of the night. I finally got Tanner calmed down and she went to sleep. I, on the other hand, not so much. When Steve walked through the door at 12:30 a.m I was WIDE awake. I just couldn't settle down until he got home. Exciting stuff.
Sunday Tanner and I went to church and Steve went to work. After church we ran to Sam's real quick and then came home to do chores. We had lots of chores, but got those done in time to set up the Christmas tree and set out all of the snowmen. Oh my word, I love when my house looks like this-all festive and happy, yet calm. We didn't decorate the tree yet-we are waiting for Wednesday to get here so Steve can help us (can you believe he's taking a day off?! Yea, me neither!). And to be honest, I love a tree with nothing but clear lights on it!!!
In fact we are sitting by the light of the tree right now, as I type. It's so calming to me-I love it!
While I was arranging snowmen stuff, Tanner decided she wanted to make come cookies. I had a Betty Crocker mix out in the garage so she made those and let me tell you-they ROCKED! We sat and had milk and cookies by the light of the tree last night.
It was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend.
It's weekends like this that I'm reminded once again, just how truly blessed I am.
Thank you God for such a great weekend.
We needed that.
