Tanner just came into the living room after waking up early. Bless her heart, she's nervous about school. She said she didn't sleep good at all last night and when I asked her why, she said it was because she was nervous....so she kept waking up. I asked her why she didn't come get me and she said "I did. Don't you remember? You came and laid in bed with me for awhile." Yep, don't remember that at all. Oops.
Anyway......she climbed in my lap here in the rocking chair and I read her a few verses that I woke up praying and saying over in my head.
Proverbs 3:5 says "Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and lean NOT on your own understanding. In ALL your ways acknowledge HIM and HE will make your paths straight."
Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord; Plans to PROSPER and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a FUTURE."
She said them with me a few times and then climbed up in my lap with me. We sat here and rocked together while I prayed over her. I love that it seems like no matter how old or how big she gets....she still finds comfort in me rocking her.
Tanner said she's nervous not only about school but about making friends and finding old ones. I remember, like yesterday, having those same fears. Heck, I still have some of those fears today! I just tried to encourage her to have faith, have fun and be a good example to others.
Pray for my girl today. Pray that she has a great year, finds a great new friend and more importantly that she is a great witness to our God and Father.
I can't wait for this day to be over!!

Have I told you that I think you are an awesome mom. You are a great mentor for me whether you realize it or not. Thanks
I hope her day when great!?! I remember the nerves...I always had the recurring dream that I lost my schedule and forgot my locker combination.
I always pray that my kids are never "too old" to get hugs and snuggle with me. It's great that you were able to hold and comfort her with the Truth.
