I haven't done well at posting lately. Some of that is pure laziness on my part and some is the fact that I've been busy. I'm currently sitting in the Dr's office waiting to be seen for a my fibromyalgia check up and thought I'd at least try to update the blog some.
Last Friday I woke up with the migraine from hell. Oh my word my head has never hurt so bad. I got up, took a Maxalt and went to work, thinking it would ease. Yea, I was way wrong. I called to see if I could get a shot and thankfully the Dr said yes. Now mind you, when I get a shot, I'm not supposed to drive. So I called Steve to come get me and he can't-they have a deal going. Dang job! A girl from work took me and then took me home. I puked, I cried and became one with the ice pack. After what seemed like forever, the headache finally broke. Praise the Lord! Man, I've never hurt like that and don't want to ever again!
I have no idea why my headache was so bad this time. I usually get my "Monthly Migraine" and can handle those with some Maxalt and an ice pack. This time though was so much worse. I wondered if it was triggered either by the enormous amount of chocolate I consumed the two days prior or if it was from being outside so much and all the allergens in the air. Either way-it sucked!
The headache pretty much wiped me out. Saturday I'd do a few things, but then lay down on the couch and sleep for a few hours. I'd get up, do a few more things, then nap some more. I thought for sure I'd not sleep Saturday night, but no need to worry-I slept like a baby!
Sunday was church and it was ok. Our church is going through a lot of changes right now. We are merging with another church. We (Steve and I) have lots of mixed emotions about this change (and not just because it's change and we don't like change) but are going to try and ride it out and see what happens. Bottom line I guess about the whole thing is that our church and the church we are merging with both weren't growing and something had to be done. So merging was the answer. I'm not sure what's going to happen as far as we're concerned. We love our little church and the people that we have to come to count on as family within our church....we'll just have to wait, pray and see what happens.
(Ok, the Dr just called me back so I'm going to end it here and pick up where I left off later)
8:30 P.M------------------------------------------------------------------
The most exciting thing about Sunday (besides the fact that I slept on and off again all day!!) was that Tanner came home!! Yay!! She'd been at her Dad's for 18 days-the last 18 days of his summer visitation. She had fun at her Dad's and enjoyed her visit, but was ready to come home. Tanner is lucky in that she has siblings at Mike's to where she has to share a room, a tv, etc. but yet here, she's an only child, so alone time is easy to come by. She came home Sunday night and climbed in the chair with Steve for about 30 minutes then went to her room, shut her door and listened to her music for awhile. She was thrilled to be able to just lay on her bed and listen at her own discretion. When she was done being introverted, she came out, we went outside and she climbed on her new bike for the first time. She was so excited!!
Silly girl.
We went to see the Orthopedic Dr's nurse on Monday for a final checkup on her knee. She's officially released, thank you Jesus! She still has some swelling and a little pain and stiffness, but that's all still to be expected. Since he had to clean out overgrown tissue under her knee cap, the recovery is a little longer than usual. She's doing great though. In fact tonight when I got home from work, she was in the kitchen and said "Watch Mom" as she bent her knee back and almost touched her butt with her foot. I'm so thankful she's done so well.
We are leaving on Friday to go home for the weekend. We can't wait. My brothers and their families, along with Mom and Dad and us, are all going to the Kansas City T-Bones game on Saturday night. They are a minor league baseball game and we have gone once a year for the past four years-they are so fun! It's my Dad's birthday on Sunday, so part of his gift is for all of us to be together at the game.
We are staying until Monday this trip because Sunday night our home church is having a send off for the Minister, who was my Youth Minister growing up. Bill, the Minister, is taking a year sabatical and is going to Union, Missouri to teach school. We couldn't miss out on the send off so we took Monday off and decided to stay another day.
I can't believe school starts two weeks from today. It seems like summer just started! Where does the time go? I think Tanner's excited to see her friends again. We found out last week, that the new Asst. Principal at her new school this year is my best friend from work's wife! We are so excited because I know Kimberly will take good care of my girl and will keep a close eye on her. I love having someone at the school that I know I can count on to be there for Tanner when I can't be. Kimberly getting the Asst. Principal job was a HUGE answer to prayers!
I guess that catches you up to today. Our computer is having power issues so we are going to have to send it off to be repaired either tomorrow or Friday. While I hate the thought that it's gone, I know it's got to be fixed. If I'm not able to update from here, I'll update at Mom's and definitely try to have some pictures from the ballgame to post.
Have a great end of the week!
