The Weekend

First of all, I have to say.....Sorry Unkie for not calling you and telling you that we were going to Tulsa. What were you and Auntie doing there anyway? It was a really quick trip, but next time for sure, I will call you! Will you please forgive me and can I please still be your favorite?

Our trip to Tulsa was great! It started out a bit rough. In my previous post about hormones, I failed to mention that Tanner is PMSing as well as my hormones being out of whack. (Poor Steve!) When Tanner is PMSing, she can be a real pain in the tooshie. I don't think she even realizes it part of the time, but nonetheless, I have to put my foot down and explain to her that her behavior and attitude must change. So after picking her up from school and stopping at Sonic, we had to have us a little chat.

After our chat, we put in some Taylor Swift, turned the radio up and sung us some tunes. I love when we do that!

When we got to Tulsa, we immediately went to Robyn and Jack's house (my cousins). It was so good to see them, as we hadn't seen them for over a year. They have three little kiddos and they were so excited to see Tanner! The kids played, the adults visited, then we all had dinner. After dinner we went to Robyn's parents house. I love Sam and Denise and again, it was so good to see them. We had a great visit and Denise even went with Robyn and I to drop Tanner off.

I have to say, I'm so thankful that we had family with us when taking Tanner to meet up with the Stony Point group. There is NO WAY I would have found the convention center on my own!

When we dropped Tanner off, I had a mix of emotions. Tanner was excited to see Rachel (our cousin) and "Aunt Melissa" (who is really Tanner's second cousin, but Tanner calls her "Aunt"), but I think she was a bit apprehensive too. I was happy that she was going to get to have this experience, but sad too about leaving her. I knew she'd be fine and I knew I was leaving her in good hands...but still.......

We left and headed back home to Robyn and Jack's. Jack and the kiddos were already in bed so Robyn and I sat up and chatted some more. It was so nice and relaxing.

Saturday morning was a lazy one. We all kind of slept in, got up, ate breakfast and stayed in our jammies all morning. Jack had to work, so it was just Robyn, the kids and I. Again, it was nice to just lounge around all morning long. I love lazy jammie days and don't get them nearly as often as I think I should!

After Jack got home, Robyn and I took off and went and had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. My word, that place is my favorite restaurant! Yum-O! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I got some white chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake and got Steve some carrot cake cheesecake. We ate them later that night while in bed-we're such rebels!

We picked up Tanner at 3:30 and we hit the road at 4:00. Tanner had such a good time! She talked nonstop about the conference. In fact she said "Mom, if they do this again next year, you don't even have to ask me, just please sign me up!" I was so happy to hear about all the fun she had and the new friends that she made! It was just darn cute to see her be so excited!

As soon as we got into town, I took Tanner to her Dad's church for a Sunday School bowling outing she was going on. I dropped her off then went home to the hubby. He had worked all day in the garage and it looked great! He decided to organize his nuts and bolts-and for those of you family members that read this-he decided to organize them "Gpa Golden style" only in plastic coffee jugs instead of coffee cans. :)

Today we got up and went to church then ran some errands. We've been saving and looking for new bedding for our bedroom. The bedding we had, Steve's had ever since he divorced ten years ago. It was icky and I wanted a change. Well, we decided to go to Kohl's today and see if we could find anything that we liked.

I fell in love with a chocolate and blue comforter set. I'll upload a picture later, but let me just say-it's awesome! We got quite the deal on it too, I must say! It was well worth the wait. I'm laying on the new sheets now and can't wait to get curtains up and put a fresh coat of paint on the walls-it's going to be so pretty! And get this-I actually picked this out, not Martha Stewart, er, I mean my hubby. I'm so proud of myself for actually having a little decorative sense today-that doesn't happen often!

When my Gma died back in October, we got two bedside lamps from them. They are a brushed silver color and when I first saw them, I thought they were so neat looking. Once we got them home, we realized they didn't really look good with the bedding we had. The one requirement of new bedding was that it needed to be something that we could use with the lamps. Well, the chocolate and blue that we picked out today-matches PERFECTLY with the lamps. I'm so excited to have a part of my Grandparents in our room.

Like I said, I'll post pictures soon.

In the meantime, I need to get off of here and go to bed. I never did get my afternoon nap this weekend, but oh well. It was well worth it. Hope everyone else had as good of a weekend as we did!
