Monday Night Girls

Here's a picture of my Monday Night Girls.
As I've mentioned before, we get together on Monday nights and watch The Bachelor or the The Bachelorette, whichever happens to be on. We've done this for several years and this season, we've gotten together all but one Monday night (and that was because of our ice storm last week!).

When we first started out, we'd all usually bring a little snack or a drink to share. Over time though it's evolved into full fledged eating and the men usually get in on the action. The men typically cook us dinner or snacks and then make sure that our cups never run dry. It's so fun!A little funny side note about this group: Out of the six of us regular girls, two are named April and two are named Shelly. How funny is that! Last season Steve gave us all nicknames and that's how we refer to each other now. There's "Rocking Chair April"-she sits in the rocking chair at our house; "I love you April"-that's April's favorite phrase; "Duce" which is Shelly, who, in Steve's opinoin, is the second Shelly; "No Bread Meg"-who is allergic to yeast and can't have bread; "Lemon Drop" Jill-because she makes a mean lemondrop; and then there's me.

Last night we got together at "I love you" April's house. Thursday is "Rocking Chair" April's birthday so we planned a little surprise for her. April fixed us homemade potato soup and broccoli cornbread and it was YUMMY! The rest of us just brought other little goodies to munch on with the soup. Let me tell you on Monday nights, we eat GOOD!

Megan brought a cake for April's birthday. At the rose ceremony each week, the Bachelor asks the girl that he's going to keep, "Will you accept this rose?" then gives her a rose. That is why the cake says what it does. Pretty stinking cute, huh!
I brought a new drink to try-a Sparkling Lemonade Spritzer. (Recipe to follow) Let me just say, we LOVED it and it was so easy to make! Gary (Aprils' hubby) also made a pina colada drink that was excellent as well. I'm telling you, the hubby's spoil us!

We had so much fun watching the show last night and just hanging out. It's a good thing that it was DVR'd too because we'd get to talking and laughing so much we'd have to stop it until we could actually pay attention! It took us just over three hours to watch a two hour (no commercials) show! Oh my word though, it was great. There were times that we were all laughing so hard that we were crying!

After the week we've all had around here without power, work and school-we all needed a break…and we got it! Thanks girls!!! Can't wait until next Monday!
