Angels and Blessings

Less than 24 hours ago we found out my brother had been in a very serious car accident in Missouri. He was seriously injured, both physically and probably a little bit mentally too and has a long recovery waiting in front of him. He's alive though and PRAISE GOD for that. PRAISE GOD that He knew all along what was going to happen and had His angels waiting in the wings for not only Matt and Tammy, but for all of us.

I've had a lot of time to reflect on things during the past 24 hours. It's been neat to look back and see where God placed his angels and where He really was in control, even when it felt like He had abandoned us all together. PRAISE GOD that He didn't.

Remember how I told you in an earlier post that there was a Water Patrol Officer ahead of the car that stopped in the road? Well, the Water Patrol guy saw the whole thing happen, turned around, called the accident into dispatch and then positioned himself where he could hold Matt's hand the whole time they were working to get him out. Matt said Tammy told him that the Water Patrol guy held his hand clear up until they put him in the helicopter. He then drove Tammy two and a half hours up here so she didn't have to drive herself. I believe he was an angel sent by God to watch over Matt and Tammy. What a blessing.

Another angel-Matt and Tammy's neighbor, Jason. When Tammy heard all this on the police scanner that she was listening to, she ran outside screaming when they said Matt's number as being the officer that was unresponsive and stuck. Jason, their next door neighbor, also works with my oldest brother up here. Jason loaded Tammy up and took her to the accident scene. He stayed with her and called my brother up here. This is how we found out. He called initially to tell us what happened then called as soon as the helicopter took off. He is bringing some of Matt's diabetes supplies from the house up to the hospital tomorrow and offered to even come tonight. What a blessing this man is and was. Another angel indeed.

I believe all the people that have been praying for Matt are angels as well. There is no doubt in any of our minds that because so many people were praying, Matt didn't end up dead. The reason Matt is where he is today, is because people all over the country were and are praying for him. What a neat and overwhelming thought. Thank you for being his angels and for standing in the gap on behalf of my little brother. Thank you for being a blessing in our lives.

The Dr's and nurses have all been great, although I have to say, the one ICU nurse that he had today was, in my opinion, another angel sent by God. She was the kindest, sweetest, most gentle lady. You could tell she loved her job and was happiest when she was taking care of a patient. She worked hard and got Matt a private room with a pull out love seat for Tammy to sleep on. She told us "He's a Police Officer, he does so much for us already, the least I can do is get him a private room." Yep, another angel and another blessing.

Matt's got a long road ahead of him. He's going to need lots of prayers and lots more angels around him. Though his recovery makes me so sad to think about, I know that God is going to watch over him and get him (and us all) through it. It's not always going to be easy, but I'm confident God will provide the angels and the strength to get us through it.

I'm beyond wiped out. My parents are beyond wiped out. I'm going to get off of here and try to get some much needed sleep. More tomorrow.

P.S. Thank you so much for the prayers. Please keep them coming.
