I started out at 7:00 this morning. A Starbucks run and 20 minutes later, I ended up at ALETA (Arkansas Law Enforcement Academy) and the day officially kicked off. Today was the Entry Level Police Exam. We had 59 applicants show up to the PT test. 50 of those passed the PT and were then able to take the written test. They have to score 70% or better on the written test in order to get an interview with the Civil Service Commission.
My job today was running the computer end of things. Though I know how to use Excel and I had worked on our spreadsheet quite a bit, I was still very nervous about doing that end of things on my own. The new Sgt over the Training Division was obviously there and this is the first time we've worked on a new hire test together. I didn't want to look incredibly stupid or unable to do the job. So I ended up putting a lot more pressure on myself than needed. It's just how I am.
Because of this, I conned my former Lt and best friend from work, Kevin, into coming out, helping me out and being there in case I need his help. He's an Excel guru. I'm far from it. Thankfully there were only a few glitches and we were able to get those worked out relatively easy. I'm so very glad Kevin was there though. I may drive him crazy with my less than pro Excel skills, but he's so patient with me and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt he'd never let me fail. And I feel lots of security in that. :)
I left ALETA at 3:18 (I happened to look at my cell and have no idea why that time stuck with me!), ran to Fed-Ex and dropped off the tests (they are overnighted to IL to be graded) and then ran home to get Tanner. Today was the Mother/Daughter Festival at church. She had made a Black Forest Trifle this morning with Steve and was more than ready to go when I got to the house.
We had a good time at the festival. We ate a lot of chocolate, played games and got our pictures taken. It was a great time, and the food was great, but let me just say...if I don't eat chocolate for several days, well, I'll be just fine. I'm just now learning to like chocolate....and what we sampled today was good...but oh my granny, I ate way too much! Good times though, that's for sure.
We got home around 6:15, I made a pot of spaghetti, we ate, I took a bath and crashed. I'm so worn out! Thankfully Steve and Tanner cleaned most of the house today and I did laundry last night, so there is very little to do tomorrow.
Though it was a long day, it was a good day. It was soooo good to work with Kevin, Jeff (my old partner in
I'm off to bed now.
Night!

You didn't have to con me too much. I would help you with anything. That's what I am suppose to do. Never let you down.
