An update.....bullet style

  • It's been a long couple of weeks. Lots has gone on. Lots continues to go on. Life's just that ways, I suppose.
  • I am so ready for Spring, it's not even funny! (As I type that, I think of my girlfriend from college, Missy, who lives with her family outside of the Washington DC area, and all the snow they have. I bet they are JUST as ready for Spring as we are!)
  • My fibromyalgia has been kicking my butt the last two weeks. I've not hurt and ached this bad since I was first diagnosed. I think it's a combination of the weather, lack of good sleep and age. I hate it. I've had to up my medicine and I really don't like doing that, but at this point, I need to in order to function.
  • I had a six month check up with the Rheumatologist on Thursday. Good timing for a flare up, huh? He offered (again) to let me try taking Lyrica, which is marketed for the treatment of Firbromyalgia. I declined. Again. I just don't want to go that route if I can keep things under control with the regimen I'm on now. He said that "hopefully" once the weather warms a little and things dry out, I'll go back "into remission" and will feel better. In the meantime-we are maintaining.
  • I broke down Tuesday and got a massage. The best 60 minutes of my month! I felt so much better when I walked out of there. Not completely painless, but much, much better than when I went in. Well worth the $65! Wish I could do it more often.
  • We are still working on re-doing Tanner's room. We went and looked at desks and dressers last Sunday and didn't find anything that would match the bed she's got now (and if you know my Martha Stewart decorating husband, you know it must all match). Long story short-we decided to break down and buy her a new bedroom suit. (Is that how you spell suit when your talking about a bedroom? hmmm..) I hate to spend the money (thank you income taxes) but at the same time, it will be something that she can keep and use the rest of her life. And if you think about it like that, well, it's a good investment.
  • Steve and I hit a rough spot the other night. We've just not been doing a good job communicating and it came to a head. Things are totally fine now, but boy, that was a scary time and I'm glad it's over. I told him last night, I really feel like Satan has been attacking us from all directions. I guess that's his job, huh? We did a lot of heart to heart talking last night and things are fine.
  • Steve's Daddy's birthday was Jan. 30. That was a tough day. I sure do miss my "Poppa Jack." Time makes things better, I know. But for this impatient girl.....well, enough said there. :)
  • Mom and Dad are on their way down here for the day/night. I can't wait to see them and am so glad they came down here this month so we didn't have to travel to KC. We are going furniture shopping, Tanner's going to a birthday party for her half sister and then tonight after dinner we're having us some chocolate fondue in honor of Valentine's Day. It should be fun.
  • I have something wrong with my right hand. Dr Saitta (the Rheumatologist) thinks I've got a bone spur in the palm of my hand and that a tendon is rubbing on it (While examining me, he said he could feel bone spurs in my fingers and said I'm too young to have so many. I feel so old). He wanted to send me directly to the Ortho hand Dr but I want to go to my family Dr first. I go Monday. Whatever it is, it's affecting the middle finger and palm of my right hand. It feels like gristle rubbing against the tendon or whatever. It's pretty nasty, very sore and swollen. I'm anxious to figure out what it is and to get it fixed. You don't realize how much you use your middle finger until it hurts to do so.
  • I've been awake since 4:00 and up out of bed since 4:30. My hand was killing me and every time I moved it through the night, the pain would wake me up. I've been productive though-I took down all the snowmen stuff and packed it away, straightened up and put the living room back together, swept the floors, dusted a little, cut up stuff for fondue tonight and now I'm blogging. Productivity is a good thing.
  • My friends from college, the Glovers, are in the process of adopting three sweet kiddos from Haiti. They already have three kiddos, so we now refer to them as the "Glover 8." Thanks to Facebook, I've been able to keep up with them as they go through this amazing journey. Amy is an Orthopedic Physician's Assistant in Hays, Kansas. She just left Thursday to go over to Haiti on a two week medical mission. Jake is at home with the 6 kiddos. Isn't that awesome? If you have time, check out her blog here here.
  • One last thing and then I'm done. Speaking of Facebook.....I know it sounds really cheesy, but I am so thankful for that tool. Because of Facebook, I've been able to be in touch with friends from college, high school and other places. When I left MCC, I was pretty bitter towards the college and the people there because of the way some reacted to my unplanned and unwed pregnancy. I'm telling you though, thanks to Facebook, I've been able to put those feelings behind me and connect once again and build relationships with many, many friends from that time in my life. And I love, love, love it!! On those days when life gets a little hectic and crazy it's nice to log in and get some encouragement. I love the "conversations", via status updates, that I'm able to have with these sweet friends across the country.
  • Ok, time to get off of here and get busy once again. I've still got lots to do.

Enjoy your weekend!
