Tanner and I went to Joplin Saturday morning for a wedding shower for my cousin Dani.
Dani is the bride in the "Wedding of the Century" being held July 11. Can I just go ahead and tell you that I. Can't. Wait!
The shower was great. Dani is only 19 and her best friend/maid of honor threw her the shower. For being so young, I was very impressed! We had a light lunch, several games, cupcakes and punch. Dani got some great gifts and seemed to enjoy herself as well.
Earlier in the week when I talked to Janece (Dani's Mom, my Aunt), she invited Tanner and I to hang out after the shower, go swimming (they have a pool) and spend the night. When I asked Tanner if she wanted to, she didn't even let me finish the question before she was saying "YES!"
We didn't end up swimming because the water was really cold, but we did sit around, talk and just relax. Dani took Tanner with her on several different errands she had to run and let me just say, Tanner thought that was the BEST. I know she felt so grown up with her! Every time Dani would ask her if she wanted to go, Tanner's face would just light up. Too cute.
After dinner that night, Janece took out a storage bin for me to look through. She has taken all the old paperwork that my Gpa hung on to over the years and is organizing it and putting them in plastic to preserve them better. Oh my word, my Gpa saved everything it seems! It was so fun, yet so sad at the same time, to look through all the stuff. It cracked me up some of the things that he saved-a list of all the funerals and weddings he'd done over the years, old family reunion notes/letters, funeral programs and notes from services he did over the years, his own funeral notes for his own funeral......newspaper articles....trust me, Gpa saved it all. It was neat.
Sunday we got up, ate some breakfast and got on the road. I had several errands I needed to get done before today and we were going to celebrate Father's Day with Steve since Tanner will be gone next weekend.
It was a quick trip to Joplin, but it was a much needed break as well. God's perfect timing, that's for sure.
