After playing the
Wii....no, let me rephrase that....after getting my butt kicked while playing the
Wii, eating a bowl of strawberries and pound cake and taking a quick bath....I'm back!
Let's see, where did I leave off? Oh yea, work. Enough about that somewhat depressing subject...
Tuesday evening I went to a memorial service for my friend's little boy. Jude was born way too early due to some problems he had with his tummy/bladder. Poor little guy! And poor little guy's family! It was a hard thing to do-go to a memorial service for someone so very small. It was a great tribute to Jude's life though and I'm glad I went. I think Jude's parents are doing as well as can be expected and though they miss him so much, are at the same time relieved that he is at peace and is now resting with Jesus.
Back to work for a minute-at the first of the week I was impressed at how well everyone seemed to get along. Keep in mind please that I work with five other females in a very small office. And to say that all of us have extremely different personalities not to mention life experience...well, that's putting it lightly. So the first few days when everyone got along, I was really amazed and thought "my things have really changed!" Then Thursday hit. And let me tell you-the drama started-and it started over STUPID STUFF for Pete's sake! I kid you not, I just slumped in my chair and kept my eyes fixed on the computer screen in an attempt to stay out of it all. It worked praise God!
Thursday morning Jill called and asked me to go to a Bible Study thing with the women from her Sunday School class. They were having Michelle
Duggar (
http://www.duggarfamily.com/ come and speak. So I said "sure!" I tell you what, we had a great time. That woman is amazing. So many people are skeptical of her and her family and though I personally think she's crazy for having 18 babies, well, I totally respect her after hearing her speak. And here's the best part-she didn't speak about anything
unusual. She spoke about life and about God and how they incorporate God in all that they do. Jill made a good comment on the way home. She said "That woman breathes God and you can totally see that!" She was so right.
(Here we all are! For those that don't know, Michelle Duggar is the one on the front row with the blue shirt and black skirt on)
Tanner LOVES to watch The Duggars on their show "18 And Counting" on TLC. She gets the biggest kick out of them! So since Michelle brought five of the big girls (plus the newest baby) with her, I asked them to autograph a piece of paper for Tanner. Let me just say-Tanner thought that was so cool!!
What a fun night that was! I needed not only the girl time, but the girl time involving Godly women. Thanks for inviting me Jill!!
I have to say, when Jill and I showed up on Thursday night together and she introduced me, she first introduced me as "my friend Shelly" and then would say "Tanner's Mom." The women would kind of look at her, then look at me....trying to figure out if they heard her right. We'd laugh and Jill or I would say "Yes, this is Mike's ex-wife." Holy cow, the looks on some of those women's faces was PRICE.LESS! It was hysterical! It's always fun to see people's reactions when we're together. Good times indeed.
Last night Steve and I went to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. I love their boneless wings and was craving them something fierce. So being the good (or smart) husband that he is, Steve took me out. We had a nice, somewhat quiet dinner and then came home and crashed. In fact I was in bed asleep by 9:30! Amazing for a Friday night, huh? I must be getting old, that's all I can figure out!
Tanner spent the night with Mike and Jill last night but then came home this morning. She and I went to Sam's and Wal-Mart while Steve stayed home and worked around the house a little. Once Tanner and I got home, we put stuff away then did chores. I got my house dusted and my bathrooms cleaned, but didn't get started on the laundry. That's tomorrow's project, I believe.
So that's our week in a nutshell. I'm sure there's more that I want to blog about, but right now, I'm exhausted and literally am falling asleep at the keyboard. I think God's trying to tell me it's bedtime, what do think!?

How awesome that you got the chance to listen to Michelle talk. I don't really "follow" them because we have no cable but I have heard of her and read some articles on the family.
It is also awesome that you are friends with Jill. If for no other reason, it has to be a HUGE blessing on Tanner to not have the fighting and rivalry between the two of you.
I was really starting to wonder about you and if things were OK since it had been a while since you blogged. Glad to catch up!
