We've had a GREAT weekend. It's been so fun and relaxing. Totally my kind of weekend!
Friday night we just hung around the house. Steve was having some tummy issues, so he spent the evening in the bedroom. Tanner and I just hung out together in the living room. We needed some down time for sure.
Saturday morning we got up and got busy cleaning the house. Mom and Dad were on their way down and though we did some stuff Friday night, we needed to finish up yesterday morning. Steve has had to work all weekend, so he was up and moving early as well. We were very productive and actually had fun cleaning. By time Mom and Dad got here, the house was cleaned and we were ready to just hang out with them.
We haven't seen Mom and Dad since Christmas, which I know was only two months ago. It seems like FOREVER ago though! It was so good to see them! And I love how excited Tanner gets when she sees them. She still runs out to the car to greet them. I think it's so neat. Earlier, Tanner had called Mom to see where they were at. Mom told her they had stopped at the bakery on the way down and I made the comment "Oh, they get them something but don't get us anything..." Tanner said "As long as I've got my Grandpa and Grandma, that's all I need." Yea, I couldn't say anything to that. :)
Tanner's little sister, Rachel turned 5 on Tuesday and had her birthday party yesterday. There's no way Tanner could/would miss that, so we took her and dropped her off for a couple of hours in the afternoon. That gave Mom, Dad and I time to run to the mall and Target. We picked up a few things and then headed back to get Tanner. After a stop at Walmart, we went home and started dinner.
Steve got home around 4:00 and that was great. Dad seemed to loosen up a bit when he wasn't the only man in the house! We had a great dinner and then just sat around moaning about how full we were the rest of the night!
This morning we got up and I made biscuits and homemade sausage gravy, scrambled eggs and hash browns for breakfast. YUMMY!! We played hooky from church and had an incredibly lazy, fabulous morning. Steve unfortunately had to go into work, so his morning wasn't nearly as relaxing as ours. Poor guy. Mom, Dad, Tanner and I played a few games of Uno and I have to admit-Tanner is the all time weekend Uno champ! Stinker!!
Mom and Dad left around 1:00 and we've been sad ever since. I love when they are here and hate when they leave. Of course I love being at home in KC and hate having to leave up there too. Either way, it's never easy and it down right sucks. I can't wait until we're able to move up there.
We had a great visit though and that's what counts. I must say, I saw/heard my Dad laugh more this weekend then I have since this summer when my Gpa got sick. It was nice to hear. Dad also hugged-I mean really hugged me-for the first time since Gma passed away. It's something that's bothered me, but this weekend, he hugged me for real and it felt good. I was glad to hear him laugh and see him smile again.
I do have to ask though-would you please join me in praying that doors would open for my Dad, job wise. Dad retired from AT&T back in July with the intention of finding something else. (The Golden men don't know what the word retire really means!) With Gpa and Gma getting sick, the job hunt was put on hold. Now Dad needs a job. Not just for financial reasons, but to keep him busy as well. Though it was perfect timing as far as his retirement goes and the time he had with Gma and Gpa, it's now time for him to go back to work. With the economy the way it is......well, enough said there. He's not done anything outside of AT&T basically and doesn't have a college education. So that, plus the state of the economy, makes looking for a job difficult. Please pray with me that God will open up doors for him soon and that Dad will find something that's perfect for him.
Well, I need to get off of here and get around to take Tanner to church. She's going to Mike and Jill's tonight and Steve and I are going up to Rogers for dinner and a little shopping. I'm off tomorrow, thanks to President's Day. Yippee!!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
