We checked out of the cabin around 10:30 and headed to the Grand Village to shop. Every year, I get Tanner a special Christmas ornament to hang on the tree. It's always the first ornament on the tree. When she moves out of the house and into her own place, I'll box up all of her ornaments from throughout the years and send them with her for her own tree. (My mom did the same for us kids and it's awesome!) Anyways, in the Grand Village they have a Christmas shop that's open all year round. It's awesome any time of year, but it's really cool at this time of year!
At the Christmas shop this year, I was able to find an ornament that's perfect for Tanner! Ok, actually Steve found it, but that doesn't really matter, does it? :) It's a piece of music that's opened up and has a little flute laying across it.
After spending several hours at the Grand Village, we went to the Tanger Outlet mall. The idea behind going there was Christmas presents for people. I had lots of coupons to use and thought this would be a great opportunity to get some things crossed off the list. Yea, sounded good, didn't it? Can you believe I didn't buy one thing!?!
The boys split off from Jenny and I and went and did their own thing while we shopped. When we finally met up again with them, Steve was shocked that I wasn't carrying any bags. I was proud, yet at the same time, bummed that I didn't get to use my coupons and I didn't get to mark anyone off the list. Oh well. It was still fun.
By the time we got done it was 3:00, we were tired, hungry and though we didn't want to, knew it was time to once again face reality and head home. We said our goodbyes there in the parking lot and then headed our separate directions.
Steve and I got home around 5:00. I have to say, the best part about traveling with my husband is...he helps me unpack! I love it and it makes it go so much quicker! We got things unpacked and put away, I ran and got Tanner from church, we grabbed a bite for dinner, then finished out the evening just relaxing in front of the tv. We all went to bed early and I think it's safe to say, we all slept like babies!
Tanner had an overnight girl's retreat at her Dad's church Saturday night/Sunday morning. She was a little hesitant to go, but said she had a blast. They spent the night in one of the hotels up in Rogers and she thought that was great. She got to hang out with a lot of girls her own age and I think she really enjoyed that. She kept telling me last night "Mom, I had so much fun this weekend. I will definitely do this again!" The girls didn't go to bed until midnight Saturday night and then woke up at 6:15 on Sunday morning, so Tanner was wiped out. In fact, she just asked me to put her to bed (it's 8:20 by the way)-said she was still tired and wanted to sleep. Can't blame her!
Steve has been in bed sick all day. He was fighting a cold last week and held it off until Saturday when we were outside in the cold all day. By time he woke up yesterday he was feeling pretty rough. Today wasn't any better. He's on meds now though and hopefully will keep his germs to himself-we'll see.
It's rainy and cold outside. My family is all in bed. I think I'm going to head that way myself. I'll post pictures tomorrow!
