Locker conversation and braggin'

I had to pick up Tanner early from school this afternoon due to a dentist appointment. After they called her out of class, I met her at her locker. She was putting stuff in her bag and I offered to help her. She had a manila folder she was holding and she looked at me and said "This is going to prove that I really am smart." I kind of laughed and said "What?" She replied "No really Mom, this is going to show just how smart I really am." I was trying really hard not to laugh at her because she was very serious.

Come to find out, Tanner is one of 108 seventh graders at her school who qualified for a program based out of Duke University. Based on the results of her Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) tests, she scored high enough to be able to take either the SAT or the ACT in January! Yes, those are the same college entrance exams that we took when we were juniors and seniors in high school! Evidently, Tanner scored 99%!, 99%! on the Math and Science part of the ITBS tests. Can you believe that?! 99%!!! We are so proud of her. If she scores a 21 or above on the ACT or SAT, she will receive state and local recognition. I'm not holding my breath or anything like that, but hey, you never know!

Tanner is pumped about it. She's so dang cute when she's excited. She was calling all the Grandparents before we even left the school parking lot. I'm just in awe. School doesn't come easy for Tanner, so for her to achieve something like this is really special.

Way to go, Tanner! Stevie and Mom are proud of you!!

Oh that's awesome! I think I took the ACT in 7th grade through that program. I have no idea what I scored, but I don't think I got any special recognition, so it musta not been a 21! LOL!Glad she's so pumped about it! You should be proud! Way to go Tanner!

If that girl scores above what I did in high school I will be so embarrassed! 99%?! That is truly amazing. Congrats!
