Progress is Good

We are taking steps in the recovery direction, folks. Granted, they are baby steps, but hey, baby steps are good at this point, right?

Steve has seemed a little steadier on his feet these last two days. They've backed him off the Percecet and put him on Hydracodone instead, so that's been good. The Hydracodone doesn't help the pain as much, but it makes it tolerable, if that makes sense. Today our friend that's the surgeon's nurse is coming over to take the staples out (I will be MIA while that happens!) and Steve is very excited about that. He says although he's still in pain, he feels a little better everyday.

We got a call yesterday from Workman's Comp and they officially denied his claim. It's a long drawn out story that makes me mad every time I think about it, but the short of it is that they do not cover degenerative disc disease under any circumstances. We were both disappointed, but what are ya gonna do? All we can do is accept it and go on. Like I told Steve, the most important this is we got it fixed, we got to use the Dr we wanted and whether workman's comp covers it or not, it was well worth every penny we've spent on it.

Steve's immediate response after we found out was "well, looks like we'll be living here another eight years until I retire." Let me just say that it hacked me off when he said that. Yea, I don't think we spoke for about three hours after that comment. We've said since day one that we want to move back home to KC. It started out being that we could move in a year or two-that got pushed back to another year or two...yesterday when he made his comment about eight more years....yea, I didn't take it too well. We just have to wait and see what God has in store for us I guess.

Our friends Scott and Amy came over last night with their three boys. Steve just loves Scott and they have been a great help through all this surgery stuff. Scott and the boys stayed and visited with Steve and Tanner while Amy and I got to go to Chili's and have mango margaritas! It was so nice to get out of the house and spend some quiet time with a friend-talk about relaxing and renewing! I know Steve enjoyed Scott's company as well. I think we both needed a visit from friends.

Tanner has loved her Science camp this week. The girl has come home every day with a new experiment that they did and is always talking about how she's ready for the next day. I'm so thankful that she got picked to attend this camp. Today they are getting their ty-dye shirts they made and she's super stoked about that. Tomorrow they are making their own soda and making a volcano. Fun times for sure.

I really need to get off of here and get busy with my to-do list. I've got several things I want/need to get done today and they aren't going to get done by themselves. I'll blog more later!

Don't shoot me but I'll take another 8 years of the Parkers being around!
