Blessed time and time again

I was sitting here this morning doing some things on line, watching tv and just hanging out. I heard a lawn mower and thought it sounded like it was awfully close, but then figured it was the neighbor mowing his grass. The more I heard it the closer it sounded, so I got up and looked outside. My partner from work, Jeff, was outside mowing our grass for us. Is that not just awesome! I went out and talked to him for a minute and he said that he and his family were going to Branson at noon today, so he took off early from work to come mow our lawn before they go and before it rains tomorrow. I was just speechless.

You know, you always know that you have friends you can count on in everyday life. When times get tough though, for whatever reason, you really see just how blessed and loved you are. It's so neat and gives me goose bumps when I think about it.

We have been so lucky and so blessed through Steve's surgery. Those that know us well know we aren't ones to ask for help on anything. We are very self sufficient and prefer to do things ourselves. That's just the way we are. Going into the surgery, we knew there were things that we were going to have to accept help on. It wasn't easy to admit, or to swallow for that matter, but it was a fact.

Well by golly, time and time again, we have been blessed by the kindness of others over the last couple of weeks. From the nurses and Dr's taking care of us in the hospital, to people taking care of our yard, to people cooking meals for us and people visiting us in the hospital. There's been people to come and sit with Steve so I could get out of the hospital or out of the house for a few hours. We've received cards, flowers, and even a care package full of goodies from my brother and his family!

God is good and He's shown us that over and over these past two and a half weeks. He truly takes care of his children. I'm so thankful for good friends, good family and most of all, a wonderful, loving God.

I hope someday we're able to return the favor and help others who are in need. I pray that someday we'll be a blessing to someone the same way people have been a blessing to us.

Wow. Truly awesome. I think many people learn just how untrue their "friends" are when in need. So you really are blessed to be on the other side of that! But I also think when it comes to good friends...It takes one to know one. Know what I mean?
