Back Together Again

I'm home!!! YAY!!! I got in last night around 5:00. I don't know that I've ever been so excited to be on the ground as I was last night. As soon as we touched down at XNA, I pulled out the cell phone (what in the world did we ever do without those?) and called Tanner from the runway. She was so excited that we were home. It just melted my heart. I couldn't get off the plane fast enough. When I saw Steve waiting for me, it was all I could do NOT to run and tackle the man! My Sgt. said we looked like a couple of newlyweds. I took that as a compliment.

The flight from Jax to Atlanta was the WORST flight I've ever been on. It was very windy in Jacksonville when we left and it only got worse on the way to Atlanta. The girl directly behind me had never flown and was on her way to a training class and was scared to death of flying. Thankfully, the two guys she sat between were seasoned fliers and were totally helpful in getting her (and myself) through the flight. I was sitting between two young college guys. At one point, the plane took such a jolt, I reached over and grabbed the guy next to me's leg! After I did it I was like "Oh CRAP! I'm really sorry (and terribly embarassed!)" He replied, laughing, "It's ok, do whatever you have to do, just please don't puke." Funny. According to my Sgt, I was "completely white" when we got off the flight.

We caught our connection in Atlanta and headed to XNA. The flight was only half full and it was a smaller plane, but a much smoother flight. In fact, it was the best landing I've ever had! Smooth as can be. I got to sit by the window and I think that helped soothe the tummy.

I had mentioned to my Sgt. on Sunday, when we arrived at JAX that one of my worst fears in flying is losing my luggage. Fast forward to last night at XNA and we are all standing around the baggage claim area. All the baggage comes up.....except mine. Keep in mind, the only thing I carried on was my laptop, my camera, the goodies I bought at the airport and my purse. I went to the desk and asked for help. Damn don't you know, my suitcase was still in Atlanta!!! CRAP!!! It wouldn't leave Atlanta until 8:45 and would arrive at XNA at 9:45! They'd deliver it, but couldn't garuntee that it would be last night. There was nothing I could do except accept it.

Long story short, I got my luggage delivered to the house at 2:00 this morning! UGH! So much for going to bed early and getting a good night's sleep! Oh well though. They were/are just possessions and everything was definately replaceable, if I had to. The most important thing was that I arrived safely, on time and in one piece. Everything else didn't matter. It just made for an interesting end to our trip, that's for sure!

Today when I pulled up to the school to get T, she almost RAN to the truck. I almost got out to tackle her too but didn't want to embarass her in front of her friends! We were both so excited to see each other though. It was awesome. I swear she's grown in the last three days. She's filled me in all the drama at school, which just totally cracks me up! I love my girl, that's for sure.

So today and tomorrow, I'm home. I leave again on Saturday to head to Little Rock with a girlfriend for the Rascal Flatts/Kelly Pickler concert. I'm looking forward to the conert, but not looking forward to traveling and being away from my family again, even if only for a day. Next week will be better, I'm sure!

A load of laundry is waiting to be folded and another one needs to be thrown in the wash, so I suppose I should quit rambling and get some housework done. For some reason it won't take care of itself.

Toodles!

Too funny about the knee grabbing, I say it's a good thing you grabbed his KNEE!

And I think it's amazing they delivered your luggage, instead of you having to go back to get it! I didn't know they did that.

And oh yeah, I meant to say it's ALWAYS refreshing to be away for just a few days and miss your spouse. It's an awesome feeling to me and I think we actually need it.
